In the past week and a half, I was very happy to have finally completed my digital first draft of the painting idea I have for Advanced Studio. It is going to be a large surrealism piece (30″x40″), inspired by human biology and the idea of intrinsic motivation. I’ve never painted something this abstract or imaginative so I’m really looking forward to starting in oil and canvas up at building C next week!
My mentor artist is Alex Grey, whose art I’ve included above! I’ve followed his work for many years now and and have always been drawn to his depictions of the human body, psyche, spirituality, mind-body relationships, and also role of psychedelics. I hope to embody some of his style into my own painting.

These colors are so dreamy! Looking forward to see you translate this to an oil painting!
Sarrah, please post process shots of your underpainting on the blog so students can see how you layer the painting and your thought process. It is coming along really well.
Sarrah,
I really like the concept behind your painting and the colors are so bright and majestic! When I look at your piece, it makes me think of a soul connecting personally with the universe and I personally feel very drawn to your piece. I cannot wait to see how it turns out!
